Director of Music
Ken Tucker
Ken Tucker has been sharing his musical passion with people of all ages for over thirty years. He has taught vocal and instrumental music in grades Pre-K thru college. He is currently the Director of Choirs and Instructor of Music Education at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.
Ken is active in the Missouri Music Educators Association and in the Missouri Choral Directors Association. He has served in leadership roles including as the Choral Vice-President for MMEA and as MCDA High School R & R Chair, District Representative and Awards Chair. Under his direction, his choirs have received superior ratings at various State and National Music Festivals and have twice performed at the MMEA In-Service Conference.
Ken is also the Director of Music at St. Peter's United Church of Christ and is also the Artistic Director for the Washington Civic Chorus, both in Washington, Missouri.
He is a recipient of MCDA's "Prelude Award”, has been on staff with the Missouri Ambassadors of Music, and is a frequent adjudicator and clinician throughout Missouri.
Ken holds degrees in Music Education and Choral Conducting. His conducting teachers include Guy Webb, David Rayl and Paul Torkelson. His areas of interest include choral literature for smaller schools, hymns and carols, teacher training and educational psychology.
Ken resides in Union, Missouri, with his wife, Jill, and their three children, Emma, Bradley and Noah.
