This saying is one of our denominational slogans, but here at St. Peter's, we pray you'll both hear and feel it! You see, here at St. Peter's, we seek to live Jesus' welcome and way of being in the world. We believe that being a Christian means not just adhering to a set of beliefs, but most importantly, it means walking in the ways Jesus walked: welcoming all (including those others would not welcome), ministering to the needs of people, challenging systems of injustice at work in the world and calling people to embrace God's Kingdom in the here-and-now on earth ("thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven"). Do you have childcare?
Childcare is available upon request. Please speak with an usher if you are in need of this service. Our Prayground is also available during worship. Read more about that below!
What programming is available for children and youth?
Prayground is offered during worship. This is a place for children to engage in quiet play during the service. CLICK HERE to learn more about it.
Sunday School meets for ages 3 through 5th Grade meet after worship at 11 a.m.
Messy Church is offered the first Sunday of every month at 11:15 a.m. and will be followed by lunch. Messy Church is an interactive, hands on, intergenerational worship experience. (To learn more about Messy Church in general, you can visit www.messychurchusa.org.) We will have some music and prayer, a brief reflection, and then an activity that children and adults can do together. This will be followed by sharing lunch together. Faith, fun, and free food! What's not to like?
Confirmation meets during the school year for 7th graders at a time that works for all of the students.
Sunday School and other programming for middle and high school youth is available as well. Please reach out to Pastor Eric for more information.
Is the facility accessible to wheelchairs?
Yes. An elevator is located just inside the double doors from our back parking lot, and a ramp is located at the front entrance to our church. Accessible doors will be added to the front and the back of the church.
How do I become a member?
You are welcome to be a visitor of our church for as long as you would like (we have some congregants who are perfectly comfortable to remain in that category), but should you decide to bless us with the formal commitment of membership, we invite you to consider full or associate membership. Full members belong solely to St. Peter's U.C.C. (it is polite to notify your old church regarding your transfer of membership). Associate members join the church, but wish to maintain formal ties to another church of their life's path.
Whatever you might choose, know that we are happy to have you among us! Please let us know if you have any questions or need other assistance in your discernment.
How often do you serve Communion and to whom is it available?
We typically serve communion on the first Sunday of the month and at the Saturday service the night before. We also serve it at Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Easter and Pentecost services.
We practice open communion at St. Peter's. This means that all who wish to know the presence of Christ in the worldwide community of God's people are invited to partake of communion.
